About INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is Nigeria’s constitutionally established body for organising, conducting, and supervising elections into federal and state offices, including the Presidency, National Assembly, Governorship, and State Houses of Assembly.

INEC also handles voter registration, election logistics, and electoral data management nationwide. It employs permanent civil servants for its core operations and recruits large numbers of temporary ad hoc staff for each election cycle.

Working with INEC offers job security, structured federal civil service progression, and the chance to play a direct role in Nigeria’s democratic process.

What is the official INEC permanent staff recruitment portal?

recruitment.inecnigeria.org. Ignore any other link, especially ones asking for payment.

How do I check my INEC permanent staff application status?

Log in to the recruitment portal with your email and NIN to check your application progress, and watch your email for shortlisting messages.

Applications go through review and shortlisting, and shortlisted candidates are typically invited to further stages such as a computer-based test and physical screening. Confirm the exact stages from INEC’s own notifications.

Is INEC recruitment free?

Yes, for both permanent and ad hoc staff. Never pay anyone claiming to guarantee a job or shortlist spot.

Can I still apply for permanent staff?

Not for this cycle. Watch INEC’s official website for the next window.

Can I apply for ad hoc staff now?

Yes, if you fall within an eligible category, via INECPRES before 18 November 2026.

Can I apply for both?

The two exercises are separate, with different portals and eligibility, so eligible candidates can pursue each independently.

Conclusion

INEC’s 2026/2027 recruitment is really two exercises: a permanent staff round that has already closed and moved into review, and an ad hoc round for the 2027 elections that is open until 18 November 2026.

If you applied for a permanent role, keep checking your portal account and email. If you’re eligible for ad hoc work, apply early on INECPRES rather than waiting for the deadline.

We’ll update this post as shortlist results and new announcements come in.
